Our Unique Approach to World-Class Breast Imaging

Dr. Melinda Staiger and the dedicated breast imaging team at Garden State Women’s Imaging believe in a comprehensive approach to breast imaging and breast disease diagnosis. Because research has demonstrated that patients have better outcomes when prospective treatment planning occurs before actual treatment occurs, Dr. Staiger and her staff collaborate closely with pathologists with special training in the diagnosis of breast disease, and with a team of specialized breast surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation therapists and plastic surgeons to ensure that breast cancer is diagnosed early, when it has the best chance of being cured, and treated effectively.
Because most clinical problems experienced by patients are NOT breast cancer, Dr. Staiger and the team at Garden State Women’s Imaging carefully evaluate symptomatic patients with tests ranging from individually tailored digital mammography, through whole breast ultrasound performed by the radiologist, not a tech or general radiologist, and culminating when necessary with a minimally invasive but highly accurate variety of imaging-guided breast biopsy procedures (“band-aid biopsies”) to ensure that patients do not undergo unnecessary and costly surgical procedures.

We believe in caring for the whole person and that drives our philosophy of caring for everyone who walks through our doors. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Staiger and her dedicated staff are committed to providing safe and accurate care, while providing up-to-date information regarding best practices and options for maintaining breast health.

While many practices in the New York tri-state area are opting out of providing these services, limiting patient access to a breast radiology specialist, or refusing to see patients who cannot pay full price “up front”, Garden State Women’s Imaging is an inclusive practice. We believe that that all women deserve the type and quality of care usually available only in a major metropolitan university hospital, and that is the type of care we deliver. Because Dr. Staiger has served as director of breast imaging services at major university hospitals, she is uniquely qualified to bring such care to women in the community she serves.
