Melinda J. Staiger, M.D., F.A.C.R.

As Medical Director of Garden State Women’s Imaging, Dr. Staiger brings 25+ years of experience in breast radiology. Since 2002, she has also served as Medical Director of The Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center.

Dr. Staiger’s experience and credentials place her at the top of her field, earning the respect of her physician peers and patients alike. Dr. Staiger is certified by the American College of Radiology (which conforms to the highest national level of qualification) for performance of digital mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided fine needle fine needle and core biopsies, and stereotactic biopsies.

In 2009, Dr. Staiger became the only New Jersey radiologist this year to be inducted as a Fellow in the ACR. This high honor, accorded to only 10% of American radiologists recognized Dr. Staiger’s clinical expertise, contributions to research and teaching, service to the ACR, and dedication to the community.

Dr. Staiger earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and her undergraduate degree from Adelphi University in New York. She successfully completed an internship in internal medicine and her residency in diagnostic radiology at New York University Medical Center, New York. Board Certified as a diagnostic radiologist, Dr. Staiger served for seven years as Director of Breast Imaging at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, West Islip, N.Y., overseeing the development of the first comprehensive breast center on Long Island.
Prior to this post, she served as Associate Director of Breast Imaging at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center/Magee Breast Center, Director of Breast Imaging at the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute Comprehensive Breast Care Center, and Director of Mammography for New York University Medical Center. Dr. Staiger is a member of the New Jersey Governor’s Task Force on Breast Cancer, and has lectured a consortium of health care providers in New Jersey on methods of breast cancer detection.
